Energy Efficient Maryland
Being wasteful with energy costs money, harms the environment and keeps us dependent on imported sources of energy. Simple solutions like insulating our homes and businesses better and making more efficient appliances can reduce energy use and electric bills. Gov. O’Malley has made a commitment to reduce Maryland’s energy use 15 percent by 2015, and Maryland PIRG is working to make sure Maryland meets those targets. More.

Chemical Security Resolution Introduced at City Council—7/16/07
BALTIMORE—Today Baltimore City Council Vice-President Robert Curran introduced a resolution supporting the passage of federal chemical plant security that requires the incorporation of safer and more secure technologies in the manufacture, transport, storage or use of chemicals when feasible.

Industries across the United States pump billions of pounds of toxic chemicals into our air, land, and water each year, many of which can cause cancer and other severe health effects. Legislative Scorecard
The annual Maryland Legislative Scorecard has been one of the many citizenship tools used by Maryland PIRG to preserve the environment, protect consumers, and revitalize participation in our democratic process.
